Wet weather

Lots of rain forecast for the next week , this will raise the water levels and bring some flooding . This in turn can force the moles to move to drier / better feeding areas . Already getting calls for moles moving back into gardens from waterlogged fields .

Moles on farmland

My winter season is well under way now , placed over 120 tunnel and talpex mole traps in the ground today. Moles were causing considerable damage to newly drilled winter crops , will have them under control within the week and minimise the damage . Looking forward to this winter working on the farms of Shropshire and Powys .

Catch a tricky mole

Had some interesting calls recently to catch moles in gardens in Shropshire . A couple of these have involved moles that have surface run straight across lawns . This is where experience comes in in finding a suitable run for trapping . It’s always satisfying to catch a mole that is causing so much damage to a garden lawn . This weeks calls have been in Shrewsbury , wem , ellesmere , Oswestry , and baschurch

Mole damage

Had a couple of interesting calls this week involving moles pushing just under the surface . On one property they had travelled about 30m out into the garden grounds just under the surface leaving an unsightly ridge . With some strategic trap placement these troublesome moles have been removed .
All this wet weather has resulted in plenty of food for the moles this year and I’m expecting a very busy winter on the farms .

Mole traps

This week has seen me trapping in some challenging soil types . I have been using talpex traps in the sandy soil with great success . Had call outs this week to deal with moles tunnelling under membrane causing the membrane to move . Also calls for troublesome moles in allotments and garden lawns .

Double Mole catch

Busy week with lots of new customers , been a pleasure to visit some fantastic properties and help bring their mole problems under control . Today I have had two double catches , really pleased when this happens as it shows that my traps are set in the correct runs and also that they have been set perfectly . Hope you all have a great weekend

Mole activity

There has been no let up in Mole activity this week , new customers plus some return visits to clear up some new residents . This damp weather is providing ideal feeding conditions and the mikes are taking full advantage . This week I have been asked to clear another churchyard of their problem moles , using a mixture of talpex and half barrel dufus traps I am bringing them under control, and putting a stop the damage being caused.

Posted 587 weeks ago

Busy moles

Really busy period , traps set all over Shropshire from roddington to atcham to ellesmere . The slightly damper conditions have really got them moving and invading garden lawns .

Posted 590 weeks ago

Silage and hay

If you have just cut your silage or hay then now is the ideal time to call me out and lower the number of moles in the fields . Mole hills can contaminate silage as well as cause costly damage to mowers . A short trapping session while the grass is growing back can have a major impact before the next cut

Summer garden moles

Call outs this week to some more beautiful gardens that are being damaged by moles , it really is amazing how much of a mess they can cause in such a short space of time . From a beautifully manicured lawn to an eyesore in a matter of days . This hot weather hasn’t really slowed them down too much in the right conditions but it has certainly slowed me down . This week I have trapped moles in garden lawns , borders , chicken runs and paddocks . I have been travelling throughout north Shropshire including wem and the outskirts of Whitchurch

Mole trapping in north Shropshire

Another busy day , setting traps and checking on others . Managed another double catch today , this is the bonus of using the half barrel traps as it can at times save having to do a third visit . Despite the hot weather there seems to be a lot of mole activity at the moment , especially in garden lawns and flower beds .

Garden moles

Busy few days , the moles seem to be everywhere at the moment , pushing into gardens from woodland and fields . Even had someone today who had lived in the same house for forty years and this was the first time they had ever had a mole in their garden lawn !
Travelled out to Roden and Newport this week as well as carrying out work for regular customers

Posted 593 weeks ago

Barrel traps

Been busy trapping moles in and around bomere Heath this week . Moles have been busy moving from the fields into people’s gardens . I have been catching unusually high numbers from some pretty small areas , had two doubles this week in the duffus barrel traps .

Posted 594 weeks ago

Mole trapping

Called out again to a beautiful garden in Oswestry that was again being ruined by moles . I had previously removed 5 from this garden just 3 months ago . Arrived to find a couple of hills , three traps in and two days later two moles out .
